Atmaram Chaitanya was initiated in brahmacharya and became a certified meditation instructor in the shaktipat tradition of Bhagavan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri by Swami Muktananda in 1978. Later he was given the title Chaitanya by Mahamandaleswar Swami Shankarananda of the same linage. Singing and accompanying bhakti kirtan for the past 40 years, he has helped facilitate kirtans at ashrams, temples, yoga studios, retreats, festivals, and homes around the U.S. and India. Atmaram sings and plays tambura and dotar with the Indian music group Sumkali, has a BBA degree in Internet Marketing, and is the Webmaster for the Center for Wireless Integrated Microsensors and Systems at the University of Michigan.

Dennis K. Chernin, M.D., M.P.H. has actively practiced and taught meditation and breathing techniques for thirty years. His teachers were trained in the Himalayan Mountains in India, Nepal, and Tibet. Currently, he practices holistic and family medicine in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Besides offering medical care, he also offers patients and students individualized instruction on meditation using chakras, mantras, and the Dr. Dennis Cherninbreath. Dr. Chernin also serves as the medical director of two county health departments and is a lecturer at the University of Michigan Medical School in the Complementary and Alternative Medicine program.

John Churchville holds a BFA Degree in World Music Performance from California Institute of the Arts, where he majored in North Indian Classical music, and minored in West African music and dance. He has been playing drums for over 20 years, and has studied tabla for the last ten. Currently, John is the music director at the "Go Like the Wind" School in Ann Arbor. He has performed in India, Germany, Canada, and all over the United States with a wide range of groups including the Gratitude Steel Band, Deep Blue Jazz Trio, Ann Arbor Kirtan, the U of M Indian Classical Music and Dance group, and as a featured performer with the Michigan Pops Orchestra.

Karen Levin, LMSW, has been participating in kirtan groups and meditation communities since the 1970s. She has studied under a number of teachers from Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Karen has brought this wisdom into her holistic psychotherapy practice over the past 30 years. She incorporates a mindfulness/body centered approach in her work with individuals, couples and families.

Catherine (Pavan) Lilly has been a organization development consultant in the community for many years. She was introduced to the practice of Kirtan through Siddha Yoga during the 70's in the Ann Arbor and Ganeshapuri ashrams. This began a lifetime interest in learning and leading sacred songs from many traditions.
